Não se esqueça, que o verbo‘to be’, pode ser contraído:

I am – I’m

You are – You’re

He is – He’s

She is – She’s

It is – It’s

We are – We’re

You are- You-re

They are- They’re

 

Todos os verbos do inglês, no infinitivo, são precedidos de to.  (Exceto os Modais, mas isso não vem ao caso):

To work – Trabalhar

To sing – Cantar

To love – Amar

To solve – Resolver

 

Para conjugá-los no Simple Present é só tirar o to.

I work – eu trabalho

I sing – eu canto

I Love – eu amo

 

Porque caso contrário ficaria:

I to work – Eu trabalhar

I to sing – Eu cantar

 

Desta forma, o verbo não estaria conjugado.
