The author was surprised that even rebooking her fligth earlier, she and her boyfriend could get their compensation. That happened because the law (EC 261) covers up the little advance notice, that means that whatever rebooking she had got, if the problem of the cancelling was the ariline's fault, they must pay to the passenger a compensation - still, most people do not know they have this right.
