Slavery (also called slavery, slavery and slavery) is the social practice in which a human being has property rights over another designated by slave, to which such a condition is imposed by force. In some societies since the earliest times, slaves were legally defined as commodities. Prices varied according to gender, age, origin and destination, since those who went to the gold mines were worth much more.
The owner or trader may buy, sell, give or trade for a debt, without the slave being able to exercise any right and personal or legal objection, but this is not the rule. It was not in all societies that the slave was seen as a commodity: in the Old Age, since the slaves of Sparta, the hilotas, could not be sold, exchanged or bought, this was property of the Spartan State, which could grant to owners the right to use some hilotas; but they were not private properties, they were not owned by anyone, the state that had power over them.
Modern-day slavery is based on strong racial prejudice, according to which the ethnic group to which the merchant belongs is considered to be superior, although in ancient times racial differences were highly exalted among the enslaving peoples, especially when there were strong phenotypic disparities.
