There are misconceptions about what constitutes litter. Some people think that if an item is organic, it's all right to throw it anywhere. Banana peels, apple cores, and the like, are just some things that come to mind on this issue. But in reality, throwing garbage around, organic or otherwise, is littering. And the environment is adversely affected by it.​

Existem equívocos sobre o que constitui lixo. Algumas pessoas pensam que se um item é orgânico, não há problema em jogá-lo em qualquer lugar. Cascas de banana, núcleos de maçã e afins são apenas algumas coisas que vêm à mente sobre esse assunto. Mas, na realidade, jogar lixo ao redor, orgânico ou não, é lixo. E o meio ambiente é afetado negativamente por isso.
