O presente contínuo nada mais é do que um tempo verbal dentro da língua inglesa que irá falar sobre ações que são contínuas, ou seja, ações que iniciaram no passado, e ainda estão ocorrendo no momento da fala proferida.

O presente contínuo possui uma estrutura específica que precisa necessariamente ser seguida para que sua construção esteja correta, e isso inclui o uso do verbo to be adequado na frase, lembrando que ele precisa estar no presente simples, e logo em seguida o verbo principal da sentença deve estar acrescido de "ing" no seu final.
