The cacao tree is very demanding in heat and humidity. From an economic point of view, its cultivation is generally recommended only in regions with an average annual temperature of around 23 to 25ºC and an average annual minimum temperature of around 21ºC. Temperatures below 15ºC are always dangerous to the crop. From a humidity point of view, a well-distributed annual rainfall of 1250 mm is considered as a minimum limit, with a drought period of no more than 2 months, however, rainfall exceeding 5,000 mm is considered undesirable, as it contributes to the appearance of fungi harmful to the crop.
