"Laura is going to spend the weekend in New
York. Her best friend, Jessie, lives there. They are
making plans about it. Laura lives in Trenton. It is
52 miles away from NY, so she is going to travel
by car. It is more economical and quicker.
As the traffic in NY is very heavy, they are going
to get around by MTA. It is a public benefit
corporation responsible for public transportation
in the U.S. state of New York. On Friday evening,
when she arrives there, they are going to attend
a Broadway show called The Phantom of The
Opera. Afterwards, they are going to a restaurant
to have dinner.
On Saturday morning, they want to go to Central
Park to walk Jessie’s dog and meet some other
friends. Then, they are going to have brunch at a
nearby place called Tavern on The Green. Jessie
says the place is gorgeous and the food is even
better. She also says is the best bacon appetizer
she has ever had!
In the afternoon, they are going to MOMA, the
Museum of Modern Art. The large six-story
museum is home to many rotating exhibits and
permanent art collections. As it is a big museum,
they planned their visit in advance. Jessie’s mom
said that first-time visitors should start on the fifth
floor with the Painting and Sculpture Galleries
and that’s what they’re going to do. They are
going to have some hours to explore the museum
because it closes at 8 p.m. After that, they are
going home to rest for the following day.
