The survey, commissioned by Microsoft and completed by 2,500 people across Australia, China, India, Japan, and Taiwan, was conducted to determine just how integral the cell phone has become in society. It found that 48 percent of Australians admitted to using their cell phones while in the bathroom, compared to 66 percent of Chinese people who do so. 80 percent of people said they use their phone while eating a meal with others, 62 percent said they use it while driving, and 48 percent would do so while trying to sleep. The survey also reveals that married women are more likely to check their partner's phones than married men, while 30 percent of people admitted to using their cell phones to flirt with someone other than their spouse or partner. Besides that, 24 percent of the men interviewed believed it was acceptable to propose to their partner using their cell phone, while only 11 percent of women believed so.
