Water is a chemical compound of hydrogen and oxygen, is essential for all known forms of life.
It is often associated to water only to its liquid form or state, but the substance also has a solid state, ice, and a gaseous state, called water vapor. Water covers 71% of the surface Terra.Na Earth, it is mostly found in oceans. 1.6% is found in aquifers and 0.001% in the atmosphere as vapor, clouds (formed of particles of solid and liquid water suspended in air) and precipitation. The oceans hold 97% of surface water, glaciers and ice caps have 2.4%, and others, such as rivers, lakes and ponds hold 0.6% of the water on the planet. A small amount of Earth's water is contained inside biological organisms and manufactured products.
