Conforme a estrutura do Simple Past, temos:

a) I cleaned the house three times yesterday.

b) She opened the windows because it was too hot in here

c) The class didn't begin at 8 a.m.

d) He wanted to be a doctor when he was a kid.

e) Did the accident happen last night?

f) They didn't enjoy the party.

g) Why did you take a cab to the airport?

As frases acima estão no Simple Past, que é um tempo verbal utilizado para indicar ações, no passado, que já foram concluídas, ou seja, essas ações começaram e terminaram no passado.

Formação do Simple Past

Feita com o uso do auxiliar did nas formas negativa e interrogativa, e, para os verbos regulares na forma afirmativa, com o acréscimo das terminações –ed, –ied ou –d ao final do verbo principal no infinitivo sem o to.

Exemplos:

-to dance: danced

- to want: wanted

- to study: studied

- to need: needed

Quando os verbos são irregulares, deve-se verificar qual a sua forma no Simple Past, pois eles não possuem regras.

Exemplos:

- to fly: flew

- to be: was (singular), were (plural)

- to have: had

Forma afirmativa: Sujeito + verbo principal no Simple Past + complemento

Ex: I wanted to eat a burger (Eu queria comer um hambúrguer)
