The languages of India generally belong to two main language families: the Indo-European family - whose main branch is Indo-Aryan, spoken in India by about 70% of the population and which includes the Dardic languages - and the dravídica, spoken by about 22% of the population. Other languages spoken in India belong to the Austro-Asian and Tibetan-Burmese language families or are isolated languages.
