a) a+b=

(2^{0} -4^{-1} )+(4^{0} -2^{-1} )=\\1-(\frac{1}{4})^{1} +1-(\frac{1}{2}) ^{1} =\\1-\frac{1}{4} +1-\frac{1}{2} =\\\frac{4-1+4-2}{4} =\\\frac{5}{4}

b) b-c=

(4^{0} -2^{-1} )-(2^{0} +2^{-1} )=\\1-(\frac{1}{2} )^{1} -(1+(\frac{1}{2} )^{1} )=\\1-\frac{1}{2} -(1+\frac{1}{2} )=\\\frac{2-1}{2} -(\frac{2+1}{2} )=\\\frac{1}{2} -\frac{3}{2} =\\\frac{-2}{2} =\\-1

c) a.c=

(2^{0} -4^{-1} ).(2^{0} +2^{-1} )=\\(1-(\frac{1}{4} )^{1} ).(1+(\frac{1}{2} )^{1} )=\\(1-\frac{1}{4} ).(1+\frac{1}{2} )=\\(\frac{4-1}{4} ).(\frac{2+1}{2} )=\\(\frac{3}{4} ).(\frac{3}{2} )=\\\frac{9}{8}
