During lunch, Mark is telling a friend about the terrible day he had yesterday: “I felt really tired when I took the train to work yesterday because Sarah and I (1) _______________ (go) to a party the evening before. We (2) _______________ (not/arrive) home until after two. I (3) _______________ (not/be) on the train long when I had a bit of a shock. I suddenly realized that I (4) _______________ (leave) my wallet at home. But after some time, I began to wonder if I really had done so. (5) __________ I __________ (leave) it in the office the day before? Perhaps, but I just couldn’t remember. I wanted to go back to bed. I felt awful.

  • O Simple Past é o tempo verbal que utilizamos quando sabemos o tempo em que a ação ocorreu. Perceba que o texto começa dizendo sobre "...the terrible day he had yesterday.", isto é, "o terrível dia que ele teve ontem." Assim, todos os verbos serão flexionados para esse tempo verbal.

  • Lembre-se que, para negar alguma coisa ou fazer uma pergunta usamos o verbo auxiliar did e o verbo principal não sofre alteração na escrita.

Portanto, temos:

1. went

2. didn't arrive

3. wasn't

4. left

5. Did / leave
