It will definitely give people, who can only think of life if there is petrol, an awakening that is rather hard – a real “crude awakening”. Basil Glepke and Ray McCormack, who made this documentary, talk to oil company gurus, OPEC executives and other influential White House advisors and discover there will be no oil in the world very soon. Every one knows that the world is addicted to oil: it is responsible for 98% of all our transportation. Plastic factories, the pharmaceutical industry, even the toy industry depend on petrol. But provisions end. And we have known this for very long. In the 1950s, Dr. Hubbard, a Shell geologist was ignored and laughed at for predicting that we would reach the high point of global oil production in the 1970s. After fifty years, we finally know that Dr. Hubbard was correct: oil fields are not producing as much. There is not enough oil for the increasing global demand.
