Most people do math on a daily basis without realizing it! Math can help us in our daily lives, by helping us make important and better decisions. Every day we are faced with math problems to solve. How can math be so universal? Do you use math in you life? We interviewed working people from different walks of life and we were surprised to see how important math is. Brenda Coslow, Architect – “I use math at work all the time. Geometry, for example, is involved to measure areas. My work necessitates a lot of creativity but also solid mathematical thinking. Peter Will, Pilot –“When we fly, we have to make a flight plan: calculate route, altitude, speed, exact landing time etc. We have software that does all that, but when technology fails, our ability to do math can save lives.” Dieter Wolf, Sports coach- “We deal with a lot of statistics, study our opponents’ tactics and performances and make decisions based on carefully calculated probabilities.”
