1) Os verbos be, believe, construct, crash, dance, walk, smoke, die, have, use, laugh, stay, travel e sail, no past simple, ficam da seguinte forma:

Para transformar verbos no presente em verbos no past simple (passado simples) é só adicionar a terminação "ed".
Ex.:
- Construct -> constructed
- Sail -> sailed
- Stay -> stayed (apesar de terminar em "y", essa letra é antecedida por uma vogal - "a", então é só acrescentar o "ed").
Quando os verbos já terminam na letra "e", é só acrescentar a letra "d".
Ex.:
- Believe -> believed
- Dance -> danced
Quando os verbos terminam na letra "y", retira-se essa letra e se acrescenta a terminação "ied".
Ex.:
- Study -> studied
- Try -> tried
Verbos com uma única sílaba ou com a sílaba mais forte formada por consoante + vogal + consoante, têm a consoante dobrada.
Ex.:
- Stop -> stopped
- Admit -> admitted
Obs.: no inglês da Inglaterra, qualquer palavra terminada em "L" tem essa consoante dobrada.
Ex.: travel -> travelled
