O ‘s indica posse. Por exemplo: This is The car of John (Esse é o carro do John). Outra forma de escrever essa mesma frase em inglês com o mesmo sentido é: This is John’s car (Esse é o carro do John).

Quando a palavra já termina em “s”, só colocamos o apóstrofo (‘) depois do s.
Por exemplo: Charles = Charles’
