1/4 = 1/2x

2x = 4

x = 4/2 = 2

b)

5/x = 4/(x + 1)

5x + 5 = 4x

5x - 4x = -5

x = -5

c)

x/y = 3/4
x + y = 28 

3 + 4 = 7
28/7 = 4

3/4 = (3*4)/(4*4) = 12/16
