are nearly equal. The points where the Sun is at a maximum distance from the equator are
solstices. Days and nights then, have very different duration
4. In June, the North Pole is tilted 23° 27' (twentu-three degrees and twenty-seven
minutes) toward the Sun. The days in the Northern Hemisphere are long and the nights are
short, while the days in the Southern Hemisphere are short and the nights are long.
