Podemos determinar uma equação do 2º grau com as raízes através de Soma e Produto:

\boxed{\boxed{\begin{array}{l} \quad \\  \quad\boldsymbol{\sf x^2-Sx+P=0}\\\\ \quad\sf se~assemelha~a: \\\\ \quad\sf ax^2+bx+c=0\quad \\\\ \end{array}}}

  • Ou seja, a Soma das raízes resulta no coeficiente "b", e o Produto das raízes resulta no coeficiente "c"

A) S = {4 ; 10}

\begin{array}{l}\sf Soma=x'+x''=4+10=14 \\\\ \sf Produto=x'\cdot x''=4\cdot10=40\end{array}

Dessa forma S = 14, e P = 40. Assim a equação é:

\begin{array}{l}\sf x^2-Sx+P=0\\\\ \sf x^2-(14)x+(40)=0 \\\\ \!\boxed{\sf x^2-14x+40=0}\end{array}

B) S = {5 ; 12}

\begin{array}{l}\sf Soma=x'+x''=-5+12=7 \\\\ \sf Produto=x'\cdot x''=-5\cdot12=-60\end{array}

Dessa forma S = 7, e P = -60. Assim a equação é:
