the exercise asks to add these polynomials.

if we do it:

(-2y+y²+4) + (2y²+3y-4)

now you have to remember:

  • plus sign in math doesn't change anything inside the parentheses , so it just disappears.

then:

-2y+y²+4 + 2y²+3y-4

  • we must put together similar terms which have exactly the same letters

y + 3 {y}^{2}

  • and organizing this expression by placing the letter of the highest degree before , we'll have:

 \huge{ \bold{ \red{3 {y}^{2}  + y}}}
