⇒⇒  Past continuous   >>>   tempo verbal para falar sobre situações e ações contínuas, ou seja, que estavam acontecendo no passado, ao mesmo tempo em que outra situação acontecia.

was      >>>   usado com I - he - she - it     -   singular

were    >>>    usado com we - you - they  -    plural

Estrutura

was /  were  + verbo -ing

I was studying English when Liz called. >> Eu estava estudando inglês quando a Liz me ligou.

Peter was playing soccer when her mom called him. >> Peter estava jogando futebol quando sua mãe o chamou.

They were watching TV last night. >> Eles estavam assistindo TV ontem à noite.

∵∵  Negativa  (was not = wasn't)  -   (were not = weren't)

was /  were  +   not  + verbo -ing

I wasn't watching TV yesterday.

Peter and Paul were not playing golf at the club.

∵∵  Interrogativa

was  /  were  +  sujeito + verbo -ing +  ?

Were Peter and Paul playing soccer last night?
