Capra is a genus of ruminant mammal that belongs to the bovine family, a sub-family of goats. The group includes wild animals such as ibex, markhor and wild goat and the various domestic breeds of goat, which is a domesticated subspecies of wild goat. These animals have a tetra-compartmentalized stomach that plays a vital role in digestion, regurgitation and redigestion of their food. The rock goat, despite its name, is not considered a real goat by scientists, thus belonging to the genus Oreamnos.
