a Swedish activist. She is known for her work against climate change, a
popular example of youth activism. Greta comes from a famous family.
She is the oldest daughter of Malena Ernman, an opera singer, and her
father is actor Svante Thunberg. Her grandfather is actor and director
Olof Thunberg. She has a younger sister, Beata Thunberg, who s a
popular singer in Sweden.
Greta was only eight when she first learned about the climate
crisis and couldn’t understand why so little was being done about it.
From a feeling of helplessness she became depressed andyounger stopped
talking – a conditions known as ‘selective mutism’. She was also
diagnosed with Asperger syndrome. It is a mild form of autism.
Thunberg sais she sees things black and white – she clearly sees
the real danger facing the planet. She said that the only thing that helped
her to overcome her depression was to protest and speak about climate change and environmental
