A Dagwood is a kind of sandwich. It gets its name from Dagwood Bumstead. He’s one of the main characters in the Blondie comics. You can read Blondie comics in newspapers all over the world. The comic is more than 75 years old.
Dagwood doesn’t like to work. He likes to sleep, and he likes to eat. He loves to make sandwiches. In the comics, Dagwood often gets hungry and goes into the kitchen. He opens the refrigerator, takes out a lot of food, and makes a very big sandwich. There is no recipe for a Dagwood. There’s always a lot of meat and cheese in the sandwich and usually some lettuce and other vegetables. Sometimes Dagwood puts bananas, apples or other kinds of fruit in the sandwich, too. He always uses a lot of mustard, mayonnaise, and ketchup. But, there’s one problem with a Dagwood sandwich. It isn’t easy to eat it. It’s really big!
