ok, sou péssimo em explicações e tô com sono, mas vamos lá:

a forma interrogativa do simple past é, basicamente, apenas você adicionar um "did" (ato de fazer algo no passado) no começo da frase e colocar o verbo em sua forma normal novamente (played -> play; talked -> talk; etc.), já que como o "did" já representa uma ação no passado, pra quê deixar o verbo assim?

já vi gente dando o "dane-se" pra essa regra e escrevendo assim mesmo, e não tá exatamente errado, pode se escrever assim que pessoas podem entender do mesmo jeito, mas usar a regra pode deixar a frase gramaticalmente correta e te previnir de uma nota baixa.
