According to research conducted in ten Southeast European countries, young people use the internet more frequently than the traditional media. More specifically, 59.3% of respondents reported that they watch television daily, and only 36% of participating youth regularly listen to the radio. The highest number of young respondents stated that they use the internet regularly: 68.5% of youth use the internet on their mobile phones on a daily basis, while 76% of them use the internet on other devices. The research results show that, of the ten countries in this study, Greece is the one with the lowest number of young internet users. The participants prefer to get informed via internet-based media. As a consequence, 8.9% of youth have never read printed media, and only 23.6% of them read printed media on daily basis. On the other hand, 62.4% of respondents read online news on a daily basis, while only 3.3% of them have never read news on the internet. In conclusion, the study shows that, although young people have access to traditional media, they tend to prefer internet-based media.
