Na língua inglesa, o verbo be (ser/estar) é irregular, ou seja, sua forma no passado não segue a regra, não sendo terminada em -ed. O verbo be no passado pode ser was ou were. Was refere-se a I (eu) e he/she/it (ele/ela/isto), enquanto were será usado com you (tu/vós), we (nós) e they (eles/elas). Sendo assim:

a) They were my parents.

b) She was my sister.

c) He was my grandfather.

d) I was happy.

e) You were tired.
