Avantasia Pronunciation:(A-VAN-TEI-JA) is a musical project led by Tobias Sammet, vocalist and main songwriter of German heavy metal band Edguy; its name is the junction of two words: Avalon (mystical place in the stories of King Arthur) and Fantasy (fictional land of the book The Neverending Story). It is the meeting of members of different bands to record a work involving Heavy Metal, Hard Rock, Classical Music and Opera. The first two albums that constitute the project bring a Metal Opera with an epic story that mixes fiction, reality (some characters actually existed), religion and philosophy.
