Exercício 1- Basicamente o past continious a gente vai usar o was (era, estava) para afirmativas no singular, wasn't (não era, não estava) para negativas no singular e Was+ (pessoa)? (fulano era,estava?) para perguntas no singular. E usamos o were (eram, estavam) para afirmativas no plural, weren't (não eram, não estavam) para negativas no plural e Were + (pessoas)? (fulanos eram, estavam) para perguntas no plural. Lembrando que encaixamos o "you (você, vocês)" no "were, weren't e Were?"
