MORGAN SMITH’S WORLD PLAYING, READING, WRITING AND TRAVELING WITH ME! Monday, March 18, 2019 San Francisco is awesome! The story of my spring break! Day 1, March 15th Hi, friends. I’m back blogging. I was busy with some stuff from school. But I asked my mom if I could blog again. So, here I am. It’s a great time to blog because I returned from California last week. I was on my awesome spring break trip with my parents. We went to California because my mum gave a lecture at a Library Conference in San Francisco. Our trip started in Auckland, New Zealand. First, we flew from Auckland to Los Angeles. The flight was scheduled to 7:00 p.m., but we didn’t leave until 9:30 p.m. because there was a delay. So, my dad and I had some time to play checkers. The flight to Los Angeles took twelve hours and fifteen minutes. Then, we had to wait for seven hours in Los Angeles airport to go to San Francisco. I didn’t know that it would take such a long time! Fortunately, the flight from Los Angeles to San Francisco was really short! But the entire trip from Auckland to San Francisco took 24 hours. When we finally arrived at the San Francisco International Airport, we were very tired after such a long trip, but we were excited too. After we picked up our baggage, mum and dad started to look for a way to go to our hotel. In San Francisco, there is a BART system (Bay Area Rapid Transit). It’s a rapid transit system of trains that runs through the bay area. My dad said the BART tickets were quite expensive. When we arrived in our hotel, we checked in and went to our room. Mom and dad wanted to go to Chinatown first, so we got a taxi that dropped us there. We had lunch there. I ate some delicious dim sum (a steamed dumpling). I was really looking forward to riding on a cable car. Did you know that the cable car is an iconic type of transportation in San Francisco? Everybody wanted to ride on one, including me! So, there we went. We left Chinatown and walked until Pier 39 to go on a ride. Take a look at the photo of me and my family on the cable car. In the background, you can see Pier 39 and Alcatraz Island. That’s all for today, friends. I can’t wait to tell you what happened on our second day in San Francisco.
