✍️Estrutura

⚘ Affirmative form

• Sujeito + to be+ verbo com -ing + complemento

Examples:

She is cooking right now.

They are watching TV.

⚘ Negative form

• Sujeito + to be + not + verbo com -ing + complemento

Examples:

Dan is not/isn’t studying now.

John and I are not/aren’t running.

⚘ Interrogative form

• To be + sujeito + verbo com -ing + complemento

Examples:

Is Axel singing in the shower?

Are the Smith having a party?

✍️Regras

A maioria dos verbos no Present Continuous simplesmente recebem -ing. No entanto, para alguns verbos específicos há regras.

• Em verbos terminados em -ie, simplesmente trocamos por -y e acrescenta-se -ing. Examples:

lie → lying

die → dying

• Em verbos terminados em consoante+vogal+consoante (CVC), duplicamos a consoante e acrescenta-se -ing. Examples:

run → running

put → putting

• Em verbos terminados em -e precedido de consoante, retiramos a vogal e e acrescenta-se -ing.
