O que é presente contínuo?

Presente contínuo, ou também conhecido como Present Continuous, é um tempo verbal da língua inglesa utilizado para quando um indivíduo executa uma ação naquele instante.

Uma grande característica sobre esse tempo verbal, é o seu sufixo -ing, utilizado no final do verbo.

Há três formas de se utilizar o Presente Contínuo, sua forma no afirmativo, negativo e interrogativo.

Exemplos:

Afirmativo: Sujeito + Verbo auxiliar (Am, Is, Are) + Verbo principal no -ing + Complemento.

Há também a possibilidade de abreviar o sujeito com o verbo auxiliar, por exemplo:

I am — I'm

You are — You're

We are — We're

They are — They're

Ex: I am drinking water. (Eu estou bebendo água).

Negativo: Sujeito + Verbo auxiliar (Am, Is, Are) + Not + Verbo auxiliar no -ing + Complemento.

Ex: I am not drinking water. (Eu não estou bebendo água).
