The pre-columbian peoples used to celebrate the holiday by preserving the skull from the dead  people, so they could be  used during rituals to  celebrate death and rebirth.

Are the indigenous American cultures that evolved in part of Mexico and Central America before Spanish exploration and conquest in the 16th century.

The Day of the Death (Dia dos Mortos)

According to popular belief, on November 1st and 2nd, which is called ''Dia de Muertos - The day of death''  the dead people have a divine permission to visit relatives and friends.

People use to decorate their homes with flowers, candles and prepare the favorite foods of those who have already left.  Also the cemeteries are decorated for this special day.

This holiday is celebrated in Mexico and all hispanic communities.

In Brazil

Finados, how The Day of Death is known in Brazil,  is considered a national holiday. The day is meant to honor who have died. Many Brazilians use to visit the cemeteries where they leave candles and flowers, and pray. Some use to sing the songs they loved to listen to when they were alive.
