Nos EUA, o voto para presidente não ocorre de modo direto, mas pelo colégio eleitoral dos Estados Unidos composto por 538 representantes do Congresso. Dos 538 representantes, 435 são membros da Câmara dos Representantes e os 100 são senadores e eleitores específicos.

Sendo assim, cada estado tem uma quantidade diferente de eleitores - pessoas escolhidas pelos partidos políticos devido ao trabalho vasto na política. Por fim, é importante elencar que o voto não é obrigatório nos Estados Unidos.
