Fica:

{15x +55y = 70 
{-15x -30y = -45

 0x +25y = 25
y = 1 

3x + 11*1 = 14 

3x + 11 = 14 
3x = 14 - 11
 3x = 3 
x = 1

Temos a seguinte:

{ 5x + 10y = 15

Como a sugestão do livro já diz, multiplicaremos a 1ª equação por 5 e a 2ª equação por -3. Logo temos o seguinte:

{ 15x + 55y = 70
{ -15x - 30y = -45

Somando as equações temos:

(15 + (-15))*x + (55 + (-30))*y = (70 + (-45))
(15 - 15)*x + (55 - 30)*y = (70 - 45)
25y = 25
y = 25/25
y = 1

Logo o valor de x será:

5x + 10y = 15
5x = 15 - 10y
x = (15 - 10y)/5
x = 3 - 2y
x = 3 - 2*1
x = 1
