Were you taught to respect people when you were little? In tour opinion when does gender equality start?

Greetings, fellow human.
Yes, I was. By my parents, mostly.
They always said things like "give you seat to someone older, or a pregnant woman", "call him/her 'sir, or man'n'". I would say, though, that they really taught me by their example - the were respectable and decent with others.
Not just rules, moral guidance, that lasts much more.
I hope someday things will get better and we won't have to obligate people to "respect" others - this will come by heart.
