Emphatic pronouns, as the own name suggests, are employed to emphasise that an action has been effected by the person herself, as in a situation in which he/she carried it out without the help of others. They are represented by the reflexive pronouns. Take a look at some examples:

II) I finished the job myself (Eu mesmo fiz a tarefa);
