O verbo to be no passado , existem 2 formas was e were.

Você vai usar para (you,we,they) were e para (i,he,she,It) was. Para negar é só colocar o not. E para fazer a pergunta só colocar was ou were na frente do sujeito, exemplos:

Afirmativa:I was here.

Negativa: i was not here.

Interrogativa: was i here?

Afirmativa:they were here.

Negativa: they were not here.

Interrogativa: were they here ?
