Dear Rory, How are you doing? I've not heard from you for ages! How are things in good old Hartford? I can't believe it's been one year since I 1. have left/left the U.S.! I'm still getting to know the place. After all, I 2. had never been abroad/have never been abroad before so I'm still adjusting to the new culture. But I have to say, I don't regret moving at all. It took some time until I 3. had found/found a job which I liked but I'm really happy now. When I first 4. got/had got here, it was a little hard to do things because I 5. didn't know/ hadn't known my way round the place. But once I got used to the public transportation system here, it 6. became/had become much easier. I'm working as an assistant chef at this really cool restaurant now. I learn lots of new things every day - it's very exciting! I 7. had worked/worked in a pizza parlor before for a few months, but it didn't work out well. Anyway, I'm not sure how much longer I'll stay here for. Before coming here, I 8. had imagined/ imagined it would be a short 'living abroad' experience. But now that I'm enjoying my freedom...who knows? I'm in no rush to get back. How about you? I remember that before I 9. left/had left you 10. had just finished/just finished your sushi classes and you were thinking about working at a Japanese restaurant. Have you found a job yet? Well, I hope you have. But you're always welcome to join me here, if you want. There is plenty of work in the catering business, and I'm sure you'll enjoy it here. Please say hello to everyone. Take care, Gordon SEND
